Keller, Joseph B. Shallow-water theory for arbitrary slopes of the bottom. (English) Zbl 1055.76004 J. Fluid Mech. 489, 345-348 (2003). A new shallow water theory is derived, and the resulting equations are examined and simplified. In contrast to the previous approach, the author does not assume that the pressure is hydrostatic, and that the velocity parallel to the bottom has a particular variation in the normal direction. In the appendix a method of deriving the scaling is presented. Reviewer: Messoud A.
