Burns, John A.; Liu, Zhuangyi; Zheng, Songmu On the energy decay of a linear thermoelastic bar. (English) Zbl 0803.35150 J. Math. Anal. Appl. 179, No. 2, 574-591 (1993). Summary: It is proved that the energy of the one-dimensional linear thermoelastic system with the commonly used natural boundary conditions decays exponentially when the gradient of the initial displacement, the initial velocity, and the initial temperature distribution are all \(L^ 2\)- functions.
