Simultaneous controller design for linear time-invariant systems. (English) Zbl 0745.93046

Three distinct approaches to the problem of simultaneous design are investigated. The authors, using generalized sampled-data hold functions (GSHF) to the simultaneous design problem, give solutions in three aspects: simultaneous stabilization, simultaneous optimal quadratic performance, and simultaneous pole assignment in combination with simultaneous intersampling performance. It is shown first, that the problem of simultaneous stabilization can be solved using GSHF control. Conditions for simultaneous stabilizability have been in two cases: simple hold and multiple hold. Second, necessary conditions for optimality have been given and the optimal hold functions can be computed using standard iterative algorithms. Third, a fixed-monodromy approach which optimizes the intersampling behavior is given.
