The influence of philosophy of mathematics on mathematics education. (Chinese. English summary)

J. Guangdong Educ. Inst. 28, No. 5, 97-100 (2008).

Summary: Foundationalism and quasi-empiricism are the important schools of modern mathematics philosophy. This paper proposes that the antagonistic relations between the two views parallel the debate between behaviourism and constructivism in mathematics education through the analyses of its philosophical position, and shows that philosophy of mathematics has important influences on the actual activity. It tells us that the mathematics philosophy has important influences on both research of mathematics education and curriculum reform. We should reinforce the study of mathematics philosophy in order to avoid the blindness and increase the consciousness in the development of mathematics education.
