Mathematics from Africa: status, goals and responsibilities. (English)

Summary: We show that mathematics in Africa as a science is not isolated and depends on established political, economical, social and ideological structures. Besides, even if in the history, Africa has played a certain major role in the development of mathematics in the World, the existence of real intellectual mathematical life, nowadays for mathematicians living and working on mathematics in Africa is to be qualified. Status, goals and responsibilities are discussed.
