From the text: In what follows, we first draw on recent conceptualizations of mathematics teacher noticing to articulate the approach we take in this chapter. Next we describe three types of research methodologies that have been used to investigate teacher noticing and the strengths and limitations of each approach for accessing that noticing. We then explain our use of a new video technology that we believe provides greater access to teachers’ in-the-moment noticing than has been available before. Finally, we discuss what we have learned about accessing teacher noticing through our ongoing work with this new technology.
