This contribution reports on a major developmental mathematics collaborative among five community colleges in Virginia carried out in spring, 2000. Demographic data including gender, age, credit hours, enrollment, teaching method, attendence, class size, classroom participation, student success and retention rates were collected and analysed to determine best scenarios for success in developmental mathematics classes.
