Summary: In this chapter we first try to clarify the concepts of knowledge and thinking from an epistemological point of view. Then we look for possible relations between knowledge and thinking. On this background, we follow the main goal of this paper to augment different types of knowledge by a synopsis of different types and styles of mathematical thinking, discussing their properties and possible educational use. We close this chapter by presenting a summary and some open questions for further research.
