Summary: The article highlights the importance of “being able to listen to children" in order to get interesting opportunities to introduce new topics not only in the field of maths. It is always exciting to add new challenges to classroom routines, which not even the teacher knows where they could lead to. This is the story of a visit to an art exhibition that offers opportunities to talk about maths. Everything developed as the result of an intuition and we made adjustments where necessary during the whole process with the help of the children’s comments and thoughts.
