Alrø, Helle (ed.) et al., Critical mathematics education: past, present and future. Festschrift for Ole Skovsmose. Rotterdam: Sense Publishers (ISBN 978-94-6091-162-0/pbk; 978-94-6091-163-7/hbk; 978-94-6091-164-4/ebook). 51-63 (2010).
From the text: Mathematics education must be understood in its various dimensions: conceptual, historical, cognitive, epistemological, political and ethical. All of them are open to several interpretations and are subjected to a critical analysis. This has been the purpose of Ole Skovsmose’s work. This paper will focus mainly on political and ethical dimensions of mathematics education. I see the political dimension as the assemblage of issues dealing with government, economics, relations among nations and social classes, people’s welfare and the preservation of natural and cultural resources.
