Summary: An analysis of the development of mathematical achievement in German secondary school courses during grades 11 to 12 shows empirical support for the assumption that the presence of mathematical software in school teaching and examinations does not speak against the mastering and understanding of basic mathematical concepts as long as it is accompanied by regular mental maths exercises, repetition and, probably, differentiation.
