Following the steps of Spanish mathematical analysis: from Cauchy to Weierstrass between 1880 and 1914. (English)
Rev. Acad. Canar. Cienc. 20(2008), No. 1-2, 119-134 (2009).
This is a short report on several treatises on the foundations of analysis written in Spain around the turn of the 19th to the 20th century, slowly introducing Weierstrassian rigor. The main books were written by Simon Archilla, Laura Clariana, Jose Villafane, and Perez de Munoz. The paper comes to the conclusion that the books discussed were no milestones in the road to mathematical knowledge, but were steps towards introducing Spain in the main stream of Mathematical Analysis.
