Using technology to enhance the locus of critical points of rational functions. (English)
Math. Comput. Educ. 37, No. 2, 175-183 (2003).
The locus of critical points of polynomial functions is a topic that can be introduced in calculus. Dynamic geometry software can be used to graph functions and their loci, giving students an opportunity to visualize the behavior of critical points in a family of functions. With a technological tool, students can formulate conjectures about the behavior of loci in more complex extensions, such as rational functions, allowing them to generalize their ideas.
