Notre travail aborde la question de la transition algebre/analyse, en se referant a l’etude de protocoles d’activite d’eleves, issus de notre experimentation dans des classes italiennes de Liceo Scientifico (equivalentes a la Premiere S francaise). Notre analyse pointe le passage d’un point de vue global a un point de vue local sur la courbe representative d’une fonction, que l’approche a la notion d’approximation locale d’une courbe met en jeu. This paper reports on aspects of the transition from algebra to analysis, through the discussion of the students’ method in our classroom experiment which involved three Italian classrooms of a Liceo Scientifico (18 year old students). The focus of the project was the transition from a global point of view on the representative curve of a function, and its tangent at a point, to a local point of view, in which linear approximation comes into play.
