Three worlds according to Karl Popper and their relation to the educational process. (Tri svety Karla Poppera a vzdelavaci proces.) (Czech)
Pedagogika, No. 1, 38-50 (2000).
The interrelations between Popper’s conception of three worlds (physical, cultural and a man’s mental world) and the problems of education are presented. The educational process is conceived as the process of cultivating a student’s mental world based mainly on the development of his/her experience. The important part of this process consists of forming the student’s ideas about concepts and their different mental representations. The authors stress constructivist approaches to the knowledge and the student’s active participation on the concept construction. They consider these approaches to be an effective way of reducing parrot-like knowledge in the teaching of mathematics at school.
