The development of new technology tools to enhance mathematics provides a special impetus and opportunity for enduring curriculum reform in several areas. This force for change is controversial and it is clear that as the direction of courses shifts new problems are emerging which need to be addressed. Teachers and lecturers need to identify essential skills which are technology independent as well as determine the most effective use of this new technology in the classroom. (orig.)
