Two deceased great friends: Francesco Speranza and Lucio Saffaro. (Due cari amici scomparsi: Francesco Speranza e Lucio Saffaro.) (Italian)
Boll. Docenti Mat., No. 39, 41-42 (1999).
The author commemorates two deceased great friends: Francesco Speranza and Lucio Saffaro. The former, a mathematician from Parma, was for the author, and also for all those who knew him, both a great teacher of mathematics and of its didactics and a great friend, because Francesco bestowed his friendship at once on those who for some reason happened to be in touch with him. Speranza has left us, his many works, the important writings on the epistomology of mathematics. Lucio Saffaro, from Bologna, a great scholar of mathematics, belonged to that group of ‘rational’ artists together with people like Maurits Cornelius Escher, Oscar Reutersvärd, Carl Magnus, Rolf Wilhelmson \dots. In particular, Saffaro dedicated himself to the study of polyhedrons reaching a remarkable specialization. (Orig.)
