Kenney, Patricia Ann et al., Results from the sixth mathematics assessment of the National Assessment of Educational Progress. National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, Reston, VA (ISBN 0-87353-429-8). 141-163 (1997).
Measurement is one of the most practical areas of school mathematics because of its use in everyday life, in occupations, and in other areas of the school curriculum. This chapter provides a glimpse of what students know and can do in this content area assessed by NAEP. The first section describes measurement in NAEP and includes information about the set of measurement items on the 1992 assessment. Student performance data on individual measurement items and clusters of related items are reported in the next section. The final section presents information on overall performance on measurement in NAEP. (orig.)
