Unified reciprocals. (English)
Teach. Math. Appl. 14, No. 2, 67-70 (1995).
The writer wants to stimulate students fascination by making them aware of the unified nature of mathematics. Just one formula can describe a range of scientific problems. As an example he considers the reciprocal formula “$\textstyle {1\over f} = {1 \over u} + {1\over v}$” and applies for modelling six perfectly different situations ‒ in Optics, Geometry, Mechanics, Technology.
