ab: Many students have the misconception that if the Taylor series of a
function f(x), about an arbitrary value a of x, converges, then the
limit of the series is f(x). The author discusses Cauchy’s
counterexample of a function where the Taylor series converges for any
real value of x but not to f(x) except for the angle value x = a.
