abstract = {Collaboration between researchers, classroom teachers and students is necessary in order to develop curricular materials which will be used effectively in classrooms. A continuous recursive process of collaborative planning, implementation, reflection, evaluation and revision makes the separation of mathematics education theory and practice almost impossible. In this paper we will share the story of a collaborative effort, in the United States, by mathematics and special education researchers, middle school teachers and students in an NSF funded research project to develop a teacher enhancement program for inclusive classrooms at the middle school level. We will share some examples of how the experiences have informed both the ongoing design of the teacher enhancement program and the classroom materials. (orig.)},
