In the Icelandic-Norwegian Hauk’s book from ca. 1310 we find an introduction to the calculations with hindu-arabic numerals in the treatise which is called Algorismus. Here the sources of this treatise, and what it can tell us on the learning and understanding of mathematics compared to in other parts of Europe at this time are discussed. rv:
