Summary: The intersection of a cone with a plane is an ellipse, a parabola or a hyperbola. But how can you draw these curves accurately on a paper cone. In this article, the author investigates how to draw them in advance on the plane development of the cone. He makes use of descriptive geometry, parametric equations and GeoGebra.
