ab: Summary: With a focus on ‘translation’, we will discuss elements of a
language of description that captures a range of strategies and
criteria deployed in setting up a mathematical model and demonstrate
its usefulness for analysing and evaluating school mathematical
modelling activities. We see this as part of a larger project of
exploring mathematical modelling and its re-contextualisation in school
mathematics.
