ab: I write this chapter, not as an authority on theories of learning but as an
educator drawn to a range of theories that seem promising in explaining
the impact of the use of CAS in mathematics education. I focus on
theories that "inform" may understanding of learning as it relates to
the use of CAS and share some ideas that may help mathematics teachers
think about teaching and learning mathematics using CAS. (Authorâ€™s
