ab: Summary: One recommendation of the Williams Review (2008) was that there
should be a Primary Mathematics Specialist in every primary school
within the next ten years. Research with one group of over 100 primary
teachers following an Open University course suggests that the teachers
who will be following the Primary Mathematics Specialists Programme
will face a number of challenges including changes to their beliefs
about the importance of subject knowledge and their pedagogic
practices.
