abstract = {Summary: The situations in that mathematical knowledge is requested are accessible for a number every time larger of people. So, it seems indispensable to provide opportunities for the personal construction of that knowledge. This possibility for knowledge construction sends us to school -- to school education. In this context, the article lines the discussions in the domains of the critical mathematical education. To introduce interests of the critical mathematical education in the mathematics' classes we argued for the use of mathematical modeling. Given the complexity of the discussions involved in those presuppositions and the reaches of this article, we present, starting from the development of modeling activities with a group of students, reflections on: (a) aspects relative on the construction of mathematical knowledge; (b) the development of reflexive knowledge; (c) the relationship of the activities with the citizenship exercise. The analysis of the activities appears indicative of reflections, reactions and the students' actions aligned with the interests of critical mathematical education.},
