Summary: This paper investigates ways for the improvement of the lengthestimation ability, which is recently emphasized in measurement area of mathematics education. According to preceding studies, students' lengthestimation ability is considerably low. This paper critically analyzes the contents related to length estimation in current textbooks and explores alternatives.
