We subsequently study proportions of a population of which each member belongs to one of two categorical groups. The statistical properties of proportions are, in general, the same as those pertaining to a particular population of numbers. College students in an introductory statistics course may wonder how these important proportions statistics relate to a population of numbers since most textbooks do not make this association. Hopefully, this presentation will be helpful to instructors of introductory statistics.
