This paper deals with $\alpha$-valuations and sequential labelings of grids. After having proved a relationship between the two different kinds of labelings the authors succeed in giving some interesting ad hoc methods for finding sequential labelings and $\alpha$-valuations of grids. They conclude by considering some harmonious graphs.
