Amendola, G.; Carillo, S. Thermal work and minimum free energy in a heat conductor with memory. (English) Zbl 1151.80301 Q. J. Mech. Appl. Math. 57, No. 3, 429-446 (2004). The authors consider a rigid linear heat conductor with memory effects. The behavior of the material is characterized by a constitutive equation which relates the heat flux to the history of temperature gradient. The prolongation of a given thermal history through an assigned process is considered. The notion of equivalence is used to associate different thermal histories which correspond to the same heat flux. An explicit expression of the minimum free energy is obtained in the frequency domain.
