This work is devoted to Godunov central schemes for one-dimensional systems of conservation laws. The authors introduce a new version of these schemes based on the maximal one-sided local speeds of propagation and the partial characteristic decomposition. They also propose a technique to improve the resolution of contact waves. The described approaches are numerically tested on the 1D Euler equations.
