Chapman, S. J. A hierarchy of models for type-II superconductors. (English) Zbl 0967.82014 SIAM Rev. 42, No. 4, 555-598 (2000). The very interesting paper under review deals with a hierarchy of models for type-II semiconductors. By means of appropriate asymptotic limits, the author passes from the mesoscopic Ginzburg-Landau model to the London model with isolated superconducting vortices as line singularities, to vortex-density models, and finally to macroscopic critical-state models.
