Colinge, Jacques; Rappaz, Jacques
A strongly nonlinear problem arising in glaciology.
(English)
[J] M2AN, Math. Model. Numer. Anal. 33, No.2, 395-406 (1999). ISSN 0764-583X; ISSN 1290-3841/e

The authors prove the existence and uniqueness of the solution to a nonlinear problem arising in the field of glaciology. They also prove that the discrete solution by the finite element method converges to the exact solution. A first simple numerical scheme is proposed and its convergence is studied numerically.
