Borisov, Yu. F.; Kutateladze, S. S.; Reshetnyak, Yu. G. In memory of Alexander Danilovich Alexandrov. 4. 08. 1912–27. 07. 1999. (Russian) Zbl 0935.01015 Sib. Mat. Zh. 40, No. 5, 1211-1213 (1999). The article under review gives a short essay on scientific, pedagogical, and administrative activities of academician Alexander Danilovich Alexandrov (4.08.1912-27.07.1999), who contributed to geometry “in the large.” Very few mathematicians can say that a section of the “Mathematics Subject Classification” is called after them, but A. D. Alexandrov could: see 53C45 Global surface theory (convex surfaces, à la A. D. Aleksandrov).
