Summary: The author gives a brief description of the main features of the Mathematica packages HYP and HYPQ. HYP allows a convenient handling of binomial sums and hypergeometric series, while its ``$q$-analogue'', the package HYPQ, allows a convenient handling of $q$-binomial sums and basic hypergeometric series.
