Marino, Riccardo; Tomei, Patrizio Nonlinear control design. Geometric, adaptive and robust. (English) Zbl 0833.93003 London: Prentice Hall. xiii, 396 p. (1995). The authors present a self contained introduction to nonlinear feedback control design for continuous time, finite-dimensional, uncertain systems. The emphasis is on design of state and output feedback, not on analysis. The following design techniques are treated: feedback linearization and observers; adaptive control and adaptive observers for some classes of nonlinear systems; robust controls by state feedback; worst case robust stabilization. The required knowledge is rather elementary. Terminology and results from differential geometry and stability theory are provided in appendices. The book contains more than 200 examples, physical applications, and suggested exercises as well as more than 200 references.
