Modern control engineering. 2nd ed. (English) Zbl 0756.93060

Prentice-Hall International Editions. Englewood Cliffs, NJ: Prentice Hall. xii, 963 p. (1990).
The book is intended for engineers, who are engaged in questions of control systems design and consist of three sections: basic analysis and design, control systems analysis and design, control systems analysis and design by state-space methods.
In the first section are exposed the classification and examples of linear control systems and their description by transfer functions, classification of industrial controllers, system performance on typical effects, Routh’s stability criterion for the linear systems with constant parameters and examples for exercises.
The second section contains the methods for analysis and design of control systems with constant coefficients, such as: root-locus analysis, frequency-response analysis, Nyquist stability criterion, closed-loop frequency response, the elements of describing function analysis of nonlinear control systems.
In the third section is considered the design methods of control systems on the base of the motion equation, given in the form of ordinary differential equations. The elements of matrix theory, the theory of controllability and observability for the linear systems, the initial aequaintance with essential of the Lyapunov’s second method are given.
The book is useful for specialists, working in the field of control system design.
