Strebkov, E. V.; Sajfullin, Eh. G. The iterative method of variable directions for solution of the problem of elasticity theory for bodies of revolution. (Russian) Zbl 0712.73101 Issled. Prikl. Mat. 15, 62-69 (1988). The paper describes in a very condensed form the iterative method of variable directions for the solution of elasticity problems. The model problem is the body of revolution with uniform discretization along the angle coordinate and with the arbitrary one on two remaining directions. However notations, assumptions and initial considerations are given in a reference paper [the first author, ibid. 15, 48-62 (1988; Zbl 0705.73268)]. The resulting difference scheme is solved by the two level iterative method with a factorized operator. The convergence and stability of the algorithm is investigated. The paper is rather theoretical and poorly related to structural mechanics. It is a contribution to numerical methods rather than to solution methods of elasticity.
