[For the entire collection see Zbl 0699.00033.] \par The author gives a detailed exposition of the Floquet's technique for the study of a periodic Hamiltonian defined on a surface, i.e. an operator of type $\Delta +Q,$ where $\Delta$ is the Laplacian and Q is a periodic potential. The author refined also, as particular cases, some results from Fredholm's operator theory.
