[For the entire collection see Zbl 0699.00033.] \par In classical mechanics the equilibrium shape of a perfect fluid under its own gravitational interactions is a solid sphere. The generalization of this result to general relativity seems very difficult. The paper is a progress report on the author's and earlier attempts to prove it without making too severe restrictions. There is still some way to go.
