Weakly associative groups. (English) Zbl 0699.20055

Es sei G eine Gruppe und A,B\(\subseteq G\) seien Teilmengen von G. Ist \(G=A\cdot B\), so nenne ich diese Darstellung eine eindeutige Zerlegung von G, wenn für jedes Element \(g\in G\) die Produktdarstellung \(g=a\cdot b\) mit \(a\in A\) und \(b\in B\) eindeutig ist. \(G=A\cdot B\) heißt auch quasidirektes Produkt von A und B. Man sieht sofort, daß direkte und semidirekte Produkte Spezialfälle hiervon sind. Hier werden nun solche eindeutigen Zerlegungen betrachtet, bei denen B eine Gruppe und A eine Teilmenge von G ist mit den Eigenschaften \(A=A^{-1}\), \(bAb^{-1}=A\) für \(\forall b\in B\) und: \(ab=ba\) für \(a\in A\), \(b\in B\Rightarrow b=1_ G.\)
Der Autor nennt solche Zerlegungen exakt. Da für \(a_ 1,a_ 2\in A\) die Darstellung \(a_ 1\cdot a_ 2=a_{12}\cdot b\) eindeutig ist, kann man mittels \(a_ 1*a_ 2:=a_{12}\) die Menge A zu einem Gruppoid (A,*) machen. (A,*) hat interessante Eigenschaften, z.B. erfüllt es ein schwach-assoziatives Gesetz: \[ a_ 1*(a_ 2*a_ 3)=(a_ 1*a_ 2)*t[a_ 1,a_ 2](a_ 3). \] Hierbei ist \(t[a_ 1,a_ 2]\) ein nur von \(a_ 1,a_ 2\) abhängiger Automorphismus des Gruppoids (A,*). Die vom Autor für (A,*) gewählte Bezeichnung: weakly associative group \((=WAG)\) sollte man besser in: weakly associative groupoid umbenennen. Den Anlaß zu diesen Überlegungen gab die bekannte exakte Zerlegung der homogenen orthochromen Lorentzgruppe \(L=B\cdot S\), bei der B die Menge der Boosts und S die Gruppe der räumlichen Drehungen (S\(\simeq SO(3))\) darstellt. Das auf diese Weise erhaltene Gruppoid (B,*) hat sogar noch zusätzliche Eigenschaften: es ist ein Loop und erfüllt ein schwaches Kommutativgesetz. Die auftretenden Automorphismen \(t[a_ 1,a_ 2]\) sind hier dann die Thomas-Rotationen. Es ist interessant zu bemerken, daß (B,*) dieselben Axiome wie die additive Struktur von Fastbereichen erfüllt, die bei der algebraischen Darstellung scharf 2- fach transitiver Permutationsgruppen auftritt.
