Mat. Inst. Steklova 169, 107-121 (1988). The author gives the quantum description of a relativistic string with nontrivial topology of the world surface. His method is based on a generalization of BRST transformation to a topologically nontrivial world surface. The results are compared with those previously obtained by E. Martinec [Nucl. Phys. B 281, 157-210 (1987)].
