This paper is basically an announcement, with ideas of proofs, of a future article by the same writer. \par It is concerned with weak solutions to a conservation law in a subset of ${\bbfR}\sp n$. Basically, it is indicated that if the data are analytic in the neighbourhood of a discontinuity, then the solution may be uniquely continued analytically, and the solution is, in a sense, uniformly stable.
