Note on the summation of the series of Lambert. (Note sur la sommation de la série de Lambert.) (French) JFM 32.0450.02

Die Formel von Chr. J. de la Vallée-Poussin \[ \sum_{m=1}^\infty \frac{q^{2m}}{1-q^{2m}} = \frac{1}{2\pi} \int_0^\frac 12 \left( \frac{\theta' (\nu, q)}{\theta (\nu, q)} - \pi \cos \pi \nu \right) \cos \pi \nu d\nu \] hat den Mangel, daßdie Funktion unter dem Integralzeichen für \(\nu =0\) in unbestimmter Form erscheint. Der Verf. gibt deshalb eine Formel, bei der die Funktion unter dem Integralzeichen überall endlich und bestimmt ist, nämlich: \[ \sum_{m=1}^\infty\;\frac{q^{2m}}{1- q^{2m}} = \tfrac 14 - \frac{1}{\pi} \int_0^\frac 12 \left(\frac{\theta_3' (\nu, q)}{\theta_3 (\nu, q)} + \tfrac 12\;\frac{\theta' (\nu, q^{\frac 12})}{\theta (\nu, q^{\frac 12})} \right) \text{tg\,} \pi \nu d\nu. \] Erwähnung hätte wohl verdient, daßschon M. Curtze die Lambertsche Reihe durch ein bestimmtes Integrale ausgedrückt hat (Annali di Mat. (1) 1, 1867).
