Fan, En Gui; Zhang, Hong Qing The homogeneous balance method for solving nonlinear soliton equations. (Chinese. English summary) Zbl 1202.35187 Acta Phys. Sin. 47, No. 3, 353-362 (1998). Summary: The homogeneous balance method is very effective for finding exact solutions of nonlinear soliton equations. But only soliton-type solutions can be obtained. We improve some key steps in this method; then, by using a modified homogeneous balance method, we are able to obtain some new families of exact solutions to nonlinear soliton equations. Solitary wave solutions are merely a special case of one family.
