Summary: The Exp-function method is used to obtain generalized solitonary solutions and periodic solutions of the generalized Zakharov system and $(2 + 1)$-dimensional Nizhnik-Novikov-Veselov system. It is shown that the Exp-function method, with the help of symbolic computation, provides a powerful mathematical tool for solving nonlinear evolution equations in mathematical physics. \par Editorial remark: There are doubts about a proper peer-reviewing procedure of this journal. The editor-in-chief has retired, but, according to a statement of the publisher, articles accepted under his guidance are published without additional control.
