Helicity and energy conservation and dissipation in approximate deconvolution LES models of turbulence.
(English)
[J] Adv. Appl. Fluid Mech. 4, No. 1, 1-46 (2008). ISSN 0973-4686

In the context of Large Eddy Simulations (LES) approximate deconvolution models of turbulence are considered. Energy and helicity conservation laws are derived and an analysis of the helicity dissipation of the model equations is given. In the absence of viscosity and body forces the helicity is conserved by the presented familiy of approximate deconvolution models. Furtheiniore it is shown that the model helicity is a second order approximation in terms of the filter length of the LES model. Helicity cascades are studied for homogeneous isotropic turbulence and it is shown that the considered approximate deconvolution models predict them correctly.
