Optimal control of tuberculosis with exogenous reinfection.
(English)
[J] Appl. Math. Sci., Ruse 3, No. 5-8, 231-240 (2009). ISSN 1312-885X; ISSN 1314-7552/e

Summary: The aim of this work is the application of optimal control for a system of ordinary differential equations modeling a tuberculosis disease with exogenous reinfection. Seeking to reduce the infectious group by the reduction of the contact between infectious and exposed individuals, we use a control representing the prevention of exogenous reinfection. Pontryagin's maximum principle is used to characterize the optimal control. The optimality system is derived and solved numerically.
