This paper describes the mathematical life and work of María Wonenburger (Montrove-Oleiros, Spain, 1927), one of the very few Spanish women having some mathematical relevance during the third fourth of the last century. After studying in Madrid, María Wonenburger obtained one of the first Fullbright Scholarships and went to the USA, where she doctorated (Yale, 1957) under the guidance of Nathan Jacobson. Along her academic life, she had positions in several universities in Canada and the USA until 1983, when she returned to Spain. She has published a number of papers in classical group theory and Clifford algebras that are well described in the paper under review. Reviewer: Pedro J.
